This is how the deer get their revenge.

there are no starbucks, moxies, tulleys etc here. there IS, however, a mcdonalds -which consequently or unconsequently, depending upon how you see it, serves coffee. i am jonesing.

Love, Blood and Sinew

love love. blood and sinew.
flowing free from hoisted flesh.
hush now, hush. it'll all be over soon.

Pieces

Pieces of me
Hanging up for you
Rifles banging in the wind

going home soon!

rich is already warning me... he's a man with an attitude and on a mission... getting up at 230 am to leave for home... never stopping, never.... all this he says with his evil grin.

bloody carnage

this is my first skinning; it's really much like carving. was actually a lot of fun... got my hands into it all... maybe took over too much, i donno but eager to learn. this picture makes me look a little bit crazy... but perhaps it's appropriate.

rich and his prize

oh my... rich... i hate to say it. cute in his hat.

he's happy, all are happy. meat and no one lost a finger.

Sean Kills

Right now there are three deer hanging in the garage and the hunters are out again for another bang at it. We had venison meat loaf last night and it was really good. The deer here taste far superior to the deer in Idaho, thank goodness!

Wandering

The hunters sighted in their scopes today, which is everyone but aunt and i... so, we went for a walk this morning... down the gravel drive and beyond... onto the narrow, hilly highway, and further down another gravel drive on the way to the main through road. What a beautiful day. It's the middle of November and the wind is blowing warm... (i brought that from Wyoming) the scent on the air is sweet...( that's from Sean, of course). and the grasses are tall and swaying the lawn is expansive... and not too much bother; it doesn't have to be perfect here and that i love. it was so wonderful i could have kept going and never turned around except i know i would have been thwarted by civilization.

We've Arrived

830... we made it to uncle and aunts in missouri. in the dark, haven't actually seen "it" yet. can't wait. i lived in this area for two years when i was in 4th and 5th grade. i'm excited to see the grounds.
for dinner? stuffed cabbage and sour crout.... hoping to have even more southern food... i wonder if aunty would mind making me fried grits.

Overnight at my brother's house

On the way to Missouri we stayed at my brother's house. Kit fed us a wonderful meal and Rich (my brother) showed me all three of his greenhouses, with its lemon, lime, kiwi, olive and fig trees. After seeing it... i'd really love to have a greenhouse... for the next place.

Kit showed me a quilt a friend made for her out of Kit's dad's old clothes. I'm just really into the idea of quilt as art, as life, as connection right now.

grandma's country

grandma's country

i ride through it and my eyes are blinded by it
flat-wind and water worn hills

elevation at 7000, signs say
but looking around you'd never know
you were higher than mountains.

sun- warm for november- bleaching its curves
sage and wild grasses bend in its unredemptive winds
pumping oil rigs keep beat with my heart

soul, blood, and bone cannot tame it.
grandmother's gone

her quilt, in shreds, warms me

A Bit of a Chawing....

"Don't start on me or I'll turn on ya".... Rich, in response to the desert, the caves and snakes... ooo yah... and a little chawing....

Devil's Slide... We're Home!

We're home.... Devil's Slide......

over the range we keep company with antelope and sage

beautiful, strange, incredibly warm november day today. what blessings... no cold feet, and lots of bathroom breaks. just out of the chute....
